We offer 2 full days of instruction and training, included with your purchase of an Industrial longarm
quilting machine.
The free, 2 day training retreats, are offered to those that purchase their industrial machine and
frame from us, TQM.
We are located in Spring, Texas, a suburb of Houston and just 20 minutes from the Houston, IAH,
Bush Intercontinental Airport.
We have had hundreds of nice quilters, join us for our 2-3 day retreats and training, from all over
the US, Mexico, Canada and England... You will meet lots of nice quilters at future retreats from
around the globe. We have had quilters from Florida, California, Indiana, Alabama, Mississippi,
Virginia, Oregon, Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Ohio, Illinois, New York,
Michigan, Missouri, Louisiana, New Mexico, Arizona, Washington, Georgia, New Jersey, New York,
Maryland, Pennsylvania, Alaska, Delaware, Maine, Bahamas, Canada, Mexico City, England, and
of course Texas.
Beginner Longarm Training Retreat
Our new building with the larger classrooms is ready and open.
We now have room for 8-9 machines set up. We schedule 6 - 7 quilters for each retreat.
There are two instructors in every class. You will get a lot of one on one time, during your training
classes.
We offer a, Free, Beginner Longarm Training Retreat, to each quilter that purchases an Industrial,
Quilting Machine and Frame package from us. We have 15 - 20 spaces available each month.
You will meet very nice quilters while you are here for classes. Call soon, our classes fill quickly.
We add extra training days, and/or Intermediate Custom Training Retreats, each per month, as
requested.
Call if you have a, "Special Request", 2 or 3 days training retreat, that will fit your needs, we may be
able to schedule it!
Beginner Longarm Training Retreat Information
There is a $40.00 Supply Fee, for the retreat. We will supply the Comprehensive Longarm Training
Manual, machines, frames, thread, batting, fabric, needles, pantos, rulers, stencils, pins,
templates and other things you will use during class.
You will have your own machine to use the entire time, you will not have to share a machine.
All fabric, batting, thread, bobbins, needles, paper products are included in the supply fee.
If you would like to bring your machine with you to class. You can. Tom will put your machine on
one of our frames. You can use your machine, for the 2 days, and we can help you trouble shoot it,
if you are having problems. Tom will put it back in your vehicle for you and secure it, for the trip
home. Call if you would like for your husband, business partner, sister, daughter, etc to attend with
you. We may be able to accommodate them.
Beginner Retreat Schedule
This is the planned schedule, for the 2 days of the beginners retreat. We try to stick to this
schedule.
Please make every effort to be available, at the times listed.
Weather, lightening, thunder storms may alter our scheduled times on the machines. We may
have to change and adjust the
training schedule, when there are weather related issues. We will still cover everything.

Introduction to Longarm Quilting
Introduction to thread tension and thread breakage, will be covered in detail Lots of info.
Introduction to loading your quilt, will be covered in detail. Lots of info.
Market and Quilt business info. Starting your quilt business, will be covered in detail. Lots of info.
Beginner Longarm Quilting info will be covered in detail.
Question and answer time. Bring all of your questions.

Beginner overall feather quilting demo
Load your quilt.
Basic longarm quilting instruction continued.
Overall freehand feather techniques will be taught. You will be great at feathers!
4:00pm Demo of Rulers, Templates, Stencils, and Laser from the front of the machine.
Practice Time for these skills
6:00pm Supervised Longarm instruction is over for the day.
6:00pm - 12:00 midnight:
You are on your own for dinner. You can go to area restaurants.
You can fix your own dinners in the retreat facility.
You can read any of the hundreds of quilt books, in the Lily Pad.
You can watch any of the longarm DVD's.
You can piece tops, using our sewing machines.
You can pin or baste your quilts to the leaders, for the next days training.
Review your practice quilts and notes, make list of questions for the next day.
You should get a good nights sleep

Carrie will have several quilt tops to review for custom quilting.
Everyone will participate in the discussion.
We will use plastic overlays and dry erase pens to try out nice quilting designs.
We will use stencils, paper designs, design books, and lots of other items to decide how to quilt it.

*Timing and trouble shooting demos
*Question and answer time. Get your questions answered.
6:00pm Supervised Longarm instruction is over for the day.
***Important, Please Note***
If you are not available to start and or attend the beginners instruction at the times listed above, you
may miss out on some of the instruction. We will make every effort to get you caught up, during off
times. However, out of consideration to the other students, we will not spend class time, repeating
the things you missed. Please make every effort to be available at the times, instruction is being
taught. Thank you for your understanding
Machines at the retreat.
Yes, You can use one of our machines during your Beginner Training Retreat. You do not have to
bring your machine and/or frame. For the best training, you will use the brand and size of the
machine you own.
Yes, You can bring your own machine and put it on one of our frames, it you would like to use your
own machine. Tom will unload your machine and set it up on one of our frames. He will then load
your machine, back into your vehicle and secure it after the class, for your safe trip home.
Purchasing and taking your quilting machine home with you after training..........
Many of you choose to take the training retreat, use and become comfortable with your very own
machine, during the whole training time, and then take your own machine and frame home with
you. Or, you can use your very own machine, during the whole training time, and then we can bring
it to you a few days later, when we deliver and set up your frame. Please call with questions.
Tom will spend time with you, giving you helpful, quick and easy tips on setting up your machine
and frame.
He will pack your machine and frame in your vehicle, for you.
He will make sure everything is safe and secure, for your trip home.
