Trip Around The Triangles
Quick and Easy Quilt Top
Fabric Requirements:

1 yard of a blue fabric, for the outer border.
1/3 yard of a red fabric, for the inner border.
Scraps of Off White or Cream Fabric for the Half Square Triangles, HST's
     Approximately 1 yard
Scraps of Red Fabric for the Half Square Triangles.  HST's                
     Approximately 1/2 yard.
Scraps of Blue Fabric for the Half Square Triangles.  HST's
     Approximately 2/3 yard.

Because this is a scrappy quilt, the fabric requirements are approximate.
You can use fat quarters and scrap fabric, you have on hand.
You may have fabric left over.
Building This Quilt Top
This quilt is an 8 x 8 unit grid.  8 across x 8 down.  64 HST units needed to complete this quilt top.

40, (Forty), Blue and Off White Background,  Half Square Triangle units (HST) needed.

24, (Twenty Four), Red and Off White Background, Half Square Triangle units (HST) needed.

I used a 6 1/2 inch, unfinished HST, unit for this Quilt Top.  The units measured 6 inches finished.

Go to your stash.  Use a variety of off whites and cream colored scrap fabrics for the background HST's.  Use a
variety of red and blue scrap fabrics for the HST's.

Using your favorite method to make Half Square Triangles, (HST). make the 64 HST needed for the body of this
quilt. 40 of the Background and Blue combo, and 24 of the Background and Red combo.

I use the Wonder Cut Ruler, for quick and easy HST units.

Lay out your HST units according to the picture above.  Sew together, using a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Press.

Red Inner Border.  (1 1/2 inch finished).
     Cut 5 or 6, two inch strips of red fabric.  Depending on your width of fabric.  (WOF).
     Sew these strips together into one long strip.  You can use a variety of red fabrics, for a scrappy look.
     Cut two lengths 48 1/2 inches long. Sew to the top and bottom of the quilt top.  Press.
     Cut two lengths, 511/2 inches long.  Sew to the two remaining sides of the quilt top.  Press.

Blue Outer Border.  (6 inch finished).
     Cut 6 or 7, strips 6 1/2 inches wide, of a blue fabric.  Depending on your width of fabric.  (WOF).
     Sew these strips together into one long strip.  You can use a variety of blue fabrics for a scrappy look.
     Cut two lengths, 51 1/2 inches long.  Sew to the top and bottom of the quilt top. Press.
     Cut two lengths, 62 1/2 inches long.  Sew to the two remaing sides of the quilt top.  Press.

Quilt this quilt top, using your desired method and design.

Binding:
     Cut 6 strips of a blue fabric, or combination of blue fabrics, 2 1/4 inch wide.  Press in half.  Sew this binding     
       to the front of your recently quilted top.  Fold over to the back and attach the binding to the back, using the    
       machine or by hand, use the finishing method you like.

This is a very easy quilt top to make.  It has not been quilted yet.  
I will post pictures of the finished quilt top soon.
I didn't know what to name this, it reminded me of a trip around the world.  It uses all
triangles, so I named this quilt project, "Trip Around The Triangles".
