Thread Breakage

We sell a variety of Wonderful,  longarm quilting machines and frames.
The number one problem, and phone call we get is, "My machine is bad, and I keep having thread breakage".

Everyone wants to blame their machine :>)
There are so many other things, that you need to consider, when your thread is breaking.
It is usually not the machine.  :>)

Usually, with a few simple questions, checks and adjustments, we can diagnose the problem and your thread

PLEASE NOTE:
All longarm quilting machines can use any thread successfully, when using the correct needle, correct bobbin,
correct threading, correct tension, correct loading, correct assembly, and good thread, you won't have problems.
However, when you are new, you may miss something, and this might not always be the case. :>)
Since, Thread Breakage will be your biggest concern with your longarm machine, we spend at least an hour
discussing the potential problems and solutions, during your Free, 3 day, Beginner Longarm Training Retreat.  You
will leave confident, knowing what problems may come up, and most importantly, how to troubleshoot and correct the
problems.

Lets think about thread breakage.....

Threading issues
Is the machine threaded properly?
Is the thread through
all of the thread guides?
Is the thread between the tension disc, or riding on the outside?
Did your thread get bumped and it is now wrapped around the laser assembly?
Is the shepards hook, directly over the thread or at an angle?

Needle issues
Needle not in all the way to the top?
Needle not in correctly or straight. Thread grove not in the right direction?
Wrong needle system for your machine?
Wrong size needle for your machine?
Wrong size needle for the thread? Hole too small for the thicker thread?
Bad needle?
Bent needle?
Burr on needle?
Did you just use a fine quilting pin, to find and or adjust the center of your needle?
Did you just change to a larger needle, and now can't sew to the left? (from the needle side of the machine)

Bobbin issues
Bobbin case not put in correctly?
Bad or bent spring in the bobbin?
Bad or bent Bobbin case?  Did you just drop it, on a cement or hard floor? Is it out of round?
Poorly wound bobbin?
Pre-wound bobbin?  Some are tightly wound and tension should be loosened a bit.
Squishy or soft bobbin?
Overfilled bobbin?

Tension issues
Top thread tension to tight?
Top thread tension to  loose?
Bobbin tension is too tight?
Bobbin tension is too loose?

Thread issues
Poor quality thread?
Cheap thread?  10 cones for $10, on ebay?
2 ply serger thread?
Thick thread?
Thin thread?
Old thread?
Metallic thread?
Delicate thread?
Embroidery thread?
Bobbin thread same as the top thread?
Thread that has lots of knots or "slubs"?
Thread is a spool, not a cone?
Do you need to dip your thread in silicone?
Did you just use a nylon monofiliment, and put new grooves in your thread guides?  

Fabric issues
Batik Fabric?
Using Sheets for backing?
Cheap Fabric? with painted or rubbery designs on it?
Polished cotton fabric?
Drapery fabric?
Denim fabric?
Minkee fabric?
Double knit fabric?
Fleece fabric?
Flannel fabric?
T-shirt fabric?

Other issues
Poor quality, thick, scratchy, polyester batting?
Lint in the bobbin case?
Lint in the bobbin hook assembly?
Quilt sandwich wound too tight?
Take up bar to high?
Did you just replace your foot? Is the needle centered or now rubbing on the foot?

Damage Issues
Did you just hit a pin?
Did you just hit a ruler?
Did you just have a thread jam?
Did you just have a needle jam?
Did you just lock up your machine?
In damage cases, you may have to re-time your machine.  Call us, we will help you.

All of the machines we sell, are tested before shipping.  They are in working order with a good quality thread, before
they leave here. They have correct needles installed.  The thread tension , and bobbin tension is accurate.  We can
help you get your machine back to the original settings.

Please call us, we will help you troubleshoot your thread problems.  It is usually an easy fix,.
